Privacy Policy

AO Ventures, LLC ("AO Ventures," "we," "us," or "our") operates UltraCoach, an AI-powered coaching platform for endurance athletes. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use the UltraCoach mobile application and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, and a password. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic profile information from those providers.

Athlete Profile. To personalize your coaching, we collect information you provide during onboarding and in your profile settings, including age, gender, height, weight, running physiology metrics (such as lactate threshold pace, lactate threshold heart rate, and maximum heart rate), race personal records, training location (including latitude, longitude, and elevation for weather forecasting), and a free-text self-description of your training background and goals.

Wearable Device Data. When you connect a wearable device provider (such as Garmin), we collect health and fitness data from that provider on your behalf, including:

• Daily wellness metrics: resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), sleep score, sleep duration, and body battery
• Overnight health status: average and minimum heart rate, respiration rate, blood oxygen (SpO2), and skin temperature deviation
• Activity data: workout type, duration, distance, elevation, heart rate, cadence, pace, grade-adjusted pace, training load, and per-split breakdowns
• Strength workout data: workout name, body region, volume, and muscle-specific strength scores (when a compatible strength training provider is connected)

Coaching Interactions. When you use the coaching features of the Service, we collect your plan generation requests, text feedback on completed activities (including structured feedback such as perceived exertion and energy level), and messages exchanged with the AI coaching assistant.

Technical Information. We automatically collect device type, operating system, app version, and usage timestamps to maintain and improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Generate personalized AI-powered training plans tailored to your fitness, recovery status, goals, and upcoming race schedule
• Provide AI coaching chat that can answer training questions using your current wellness, activity, and plan context
• Sync and display your wellness and activity data within the app
• Track training compliance by comparing your completed activities against prescribed workouts
• Retrieve local weather forecasts based on your training location to inform plan recommendations
• Improve the accuracy and quality of coaching recommendations over time
• Communicate with you about your account and the Service

3. AI Processing

UltraCoach uses third-party AI language models (currently from Anthropic and Google) to generate training plans and power the coaching chat. When generating a plan or responding to a coaching question, we send relevant context — including your profile, recent wellness data, recent activity summaries, current plan, and your feedback — to these AI providers for processing. This data is sent solely to produce a coaching response and is not used by these providers to train their models. We select AI providers that offer data processing agreements consistent with this policy.

4. How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your data is stored in Google Cloud Platform infrastructure, including Cloud Firestore for primary application data and Google Cloud Secret Manager for encrypted storage of wearable provider credentials. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access tokens for connected providers are stored securely and are never exposed to the client application.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Wearable device data is stored locally in our systems after being synced from your provider; this is necessary for the Service to function, as some providers only make data available for a limited window.

5. Information We Share

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:

• AI providers: As described in Section 3, we send contextual coaching data to AI model providers for the purpose of generating your training plans and coaching responses.
• Weather services: We send your training location coordinates to the National Weather Service (for US locations) to retrieve forecast data. No personal identifiers are included in these requests.
• Infrastructure providers: Your data is processed and stored by our cloud infrastructure provider (Google Cloud Platform) under their standard data processing terms.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Access and correction. You can view and update your profile information at any time through the app's Settings screens.

Disconnect providers. You can disconnect any wearable provider at any time through the Connections screen in the app. Disconnecting stops future data syncing from that provider.

Data deletion. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by contacting us at the address below. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete your account data, including your profile, wellness records, activity data, training plans, coaching conversations, and stored provider credentials, within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently purged.

Data export. You may request a copy of your data by contacting us at the address below.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will promptly delete it.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email before the changes take effect. Your continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
